Every week in the Whakatipu, people are facing illness, grief, financial hardship, accidents and circumstances they simply didn’t see coming.

Baskets of Blessing responds with something very simple – practical kindness.

Home-cooked meals. Food boxes. Beautiful gift baskets.

All provided through anonymous nominations, with no judgement and no complicated qualifying criteria.

And the need is growing.
In just two years, our food boxes have grown from 895 to more than 2,100 a  year.

Last year alone, we delivered over 12,000 acts of practical support into our community.

But after years of making do, we’ve outgrown our patchwork of containers, freezers and temporary off-site storage.
It works – but it makes everything far more complicated than it needs to be.

Our solution is a purpose-built Operations and Distribution Centre, bringing everything together under one roof on our current site in Arrowtown.
The majority of the funding is already secured – we’re now working to raise the final $115,000 needed to get this project green-lit.

And that’s where the support of our community can make an extraordinary difference.

Because this isn’t really about a building.

It’s about giving our food rescue ecosystem the space to work better – more capacity, better food storage,

safer volunteers and the ability to rescue more food and help more people.

And our greatest resource is our people.
Our strength lies in the beautiful mosaic of volunteers, businesses, donors and community organisations who give their time, skills, resources and care.

Together, they collect, rescue, cook, sort, pack and deliver – week after week.

We’re not simply trying to build a shed.
We’re building a home for an extraordinary community effort – and a foundation that will allow Baskets of Blessing

to keep looking after people across the Whakatipu for many years to come.
